Does MindVision have to do the visual design of my site?

No. If you have your own graphic artist or advertising agency, you can have them supply your visual concept and MindVision will just make it work as a web site.

Do I have to pay MindVision to do the intial design and setup on my Site Director site?

Pretty much. Site Director is not designed to be a website-in-a-box solution. It is a product that takes advantages of the fact that many businesses require similar features while still wanting a professional and unique website.

With Site Director, we can give you a great website at fraction of the normal cost.

How quickly can I have my site up and running?

Usually about two weeks by the time your visual concept is developed, approved and your website shell in Site Director all setup ready to go. That said, it also normally takes a couple of weeks for your job to get onto our production schedule. In other words, your project time is probably about four weeks - which can easily become six weeks with a bit of time lost in communication.

Can you do rush jobs?

If you talk to us really nicely and your need is genuinely urgent, we will help you to get your new site online more quickly. For a fast result, you will need to also need to work quickly as well in both composing and collecting your content and responding to our questions or requests for information.

What do I need to do?

As with any website, you need to compose the words that you want to appear on your site as well as the headings that make it easy to navigate. You need to assemble any photos or other material you want to include.

The Site Director pricing has a number of establishment costs. Are these prices fixed?

Nope. However they are realistic and we'll let you know if you need to allow more budget when you tell us about your needs.

The main area to watch out for is the Shell Design. If you cannot provide a clear brief (of the image you want to portray), or need to see a starting visual to help you form your ideas, then you will need a larger budget for your visual design. If there is a "committee" involved in approving the visual then the need for a larger budget is also likely.

Spending $1,000 to $1,500 to arrive at the finished visual is not uncommon in the size websites that Site Director is designed for, but it is entirely up to you!

Will I be locked into Site Director forever?

Yes and No. First let’s deal with “forever”. As a rule of thumb, your website should be revamped about every three years. Therefore, in the context of a website, “forever” really only means “about three years”.

However, let’s suppose that your situation changes and for some reason you want to move your website. MindVision won’t stop you. You aren’t locked into a contract. Your basic web pages are very portable and can be moved to another system anytime. Of course, doing so would mean forsaking the clever “magic” of Site Director such as the Shopping Cart, Portfolio and Enquiry Management system.

By the way, freshening up your website in three years time will be so much easier, in other words cheaper, with Site Director!

Will my website look the same as other Site Director sites?

Your site will be as unique as if we were not using Site Director. Remember, Site Director is just a way of delivering lots of features for a low cost. The look and feel of your site will still be handcrafted by professionals.

What kind of websites is Site Director good for?

When we designed Site Director, we considered the sorts of features that we were creating each time for website projects with budgets ranging from $2,000 to $10,000. Site Director is not always the answer, but if it will work for your project, it will save you a lot of money.

When you talk to us about your project, we will soon be able to let you know if it is a candidate for Site Director.

How many products can the on-line shop handle?

Technically there is no limit to the number of products. However, the administration interface and to a lesser extent, the public interface is not intended to handle thousands of products.

Realistically, when designing the e-commerce system we had in mind the type of business that offers between one and a few hundred products. If you want to offer more, then you probably probably need a more specialised system and we would prefer to build it from scratch for you.
